If you've been gaming as long as I have, you have to remember the turbo controller mainstays from the days of the NES. If you needed that extra bit of something in Mega Man, you flipped on the turbo and blasted little yellow pellets to your heart's delight. Gaming has obviously come a very long way since the 8 bit days and so have controllers. Gone are the 2 button, D-Pad control schemes, replaced by complex button presses and analog control sticks. Controllers vibrate, mimic movement and conform to the shape of your hand. One thing they don't do normally these days, is fire rapidly with one press (depending on the game and gun type).
I know I get on my soap box a lot here and it's usually related to first person shooters and their elements online; this will be no different.
I play Call of Duty 4 online almost every day and every day the game finds a new way to send me into a profanity laced tirade against society. Hell, I already went on a rant here about it. Last night was a breaking point when I encountered an asshole with a turbo controller online. The TC is all well and good if you're playing single player. Cheat as much as you want when playing single player anything; cheating only makes a good thing better. When it comes to multiplayer though, use your own skill set or get the fuck off my lawn.
Time and time again I was gunned down by an asshat using single the single shot rifles (G3 and M14 for those of you playing the at home version). I'd hear the .50 cal in the distance running off shots like it was a machine gun. Pistols were turned into sub-machine guns as I was powerless to even get a shot off. What's the god damn point of playing online if you're going to cheat in some way? I can fire off some of those single shot rifles pretty fucking quickly, but I do it with multiple button presses, not holding a trigger to empty a clip in less than 2 seconds.
Additionally, quit fucking going prone every time I start shooting at you. That's such a bitch move, it's not strategy.
What do you guys think? Are turbo controllers a tool that's kosher in the online world or should we hunt down the users with reckless abandon?
Update: So I found a little demonstration of some assholes in action. These shitheads sell the controllers for $70 a pop.

HAHA, that video, I didn't realize people were modding controllers to make them turbo. I thought leggit companies were selling them. The frame rate can't even keep up when they use that junk. Also for $70 a pop, you'd think they could afford some editting software.
I used to love my turbo controller back in the day, and could maybe see it for some single player modes today. But I think back then, people wanted you to cheat, people would build in cheat codes into their games just so you can cheat. Nowadays you don't find that really at all in most games. I think that built in cheats and turbo controllers are and should be a thing of the past.
Stand tall on your soap box td0t perhaps people will eventually.
