I don’t know if it’s the servers I play on or what, but it looks to me that 90% of the people playing tf2 are playing for their individual scores. Maybe it’s because I play mostly on pubs because I don’t really feel like joining a clan. Some of us actually want to win the game and it makes me want to jam rusty Phillips head screw drivers into my eyeballs when someone is only playing for themselves.
Just last weekend I was dead and in spec mode watching a demo-man standing next to the payload on Gold rush shooting out his little bombs at some sniper sitting up in the sniper nest, not killing him of course. Mean while 2 scouts and a medic pushed the cart right past this retard to win the game. All he had to do was turn around and bomb the cart so I could respawn and actually help out the team to WIN THE GAME. That’s what it’s about isn’t it? Winning the game? You’d think it was, but apparently not.
Sometimes I like to be a medic to help out the team. After listening to some Pyro call for a medic nonstop for 2 minutes, I decided to give him a chance. I finally catch up to him after chasing this bastard down because he apparently likes to run in the opposite direction of the Medic (retard…). I throw some heals on him and I’m following up his ass like a good Medic should, finding cover to not take damage, advancing with him. Then a spy de-cloaks, trying to kill me, I’m saying “spy… spy, there’s a spy. A spy De-cloaked, hey… kill this spy please?, spy spy spyspysypsypsypsypsypsypsypsyps” I switch to the uber saw and attempt to take him out but die (well, I had already been stabbed in the face twice awaiting the Pyro to actually help out). All because this retard of a Pyro is too busy worrying about his score even though the only reason he has any kills is because I was healing his ass. After that he called for a medic again for the next 10 min, and I refused to heal him, asking over mic if I was deaf… yeap, I’m deaf you little shit. I’m sure it was some 12 year old bastard with ADHD.
One of the biggest team player chars is the Engineer, and I fucking detest when I’m building this sweet kick ass base for my team, level 3 sentry, dispenser and teleport and people just shit on my face. If I’m trying to get back to all my kick ass base because it’s about to blow up I LOVE when a scout steals the teleport from me, I could just punch a hole in my monitor just thinking about it. I also love when there’s tons of people chilling near my sweet base, and they are all watching a spy constantly sapping all my shit over and over and over and over. Freaking heavy standing there eating a sammich, pyros got her thumb up her ass, and a medic standing next to the dispenser calling for a medic. Finally the spy gets in a position and backstabs me, thanks guys, you should get the “I don’t give a fuck about anyone else playing this game” achievement (I think the icon for that is a middle finger).
Like I said maybe it’s the servers I play on I don’t know, or maybe it’s that 90% of the people in this world are just retarded assholes. If you’re one of the 10% please look me up so we can actually win a freaking game.
I hear you! As career scout I get a ton of crap as well. I hear an engi call out about a spy, I go back and take out the spy, refuse to steal the engi's metal, and manage to keep the cart from moving backward... My thanks, even though I was second highest on the chart that day, was "Switch class and help your team."
That comming from the W+M1 pyro that refused to spycheck and is at the bottom of the chart after 30 minutes, mind you. I just try to play while being conscious of my team and hope people see how enjoyable that makes the game so they follow suit.
Ha. Eventually I just get frustrated and play as a sniper. Even if you get medics on your team, it's tough to have a medic snap to you because people are so scatterbrained online.
I'm a casual TF2'er and I've encountered every situation here. It makes me lose complete faith in humanity.
If the game weren't called TEAM FORTRESS, I wouldn't take such issue with it.
