Cross Platform Licensing

I couldn't find a good picture so I googled multi platform video games, and this came up... figured it was good enoughWith all of these games coming out on every platform these days, I thought I would be able to find some more information about this topic.  A Wikipedia page or at the least a heated forum discussion ending in an argument about the awesomeness of Runescape.  I can’t find a damn thing even mentioning something that touches cross platform licensing for games.  Maybe I’m not searching for the right topics, or maybe this concept is newer than I thought, but probably not. I mean, I’m just some random internet blog rambling douche bag.

Gamers We Love To Hate

We've all played with them. They exist out there and there's nothing that can be done to stop them. Some are funny, some are tragic and then there are those that make you sad to know that we share a gene pool. Grunge Gamer presents part one of the most loathsome multiplayer gamers.

Your review doesn't matter.

Okay, to some extent the title is misleading and a lie. Actually, your review can matter, but for the most part, the majority of people who sit down and write these reviews are biased in one form or another.

'Oh no, D!' you say to me. 'I'm very open minded about my games!'

Yes, well Confucious said that 'If a mind is too open, everything falls out.' This is exactly the problem we're facing in gaming nowadays. People are open minded, liberal and will take ANYTHING the industry gives them.

I digress. Back to the original topic...

Team Fortress 2, without the team

tf2I don’t know if it’s the servers I play on or what, but it looks to me that 90% of the people playing tf2 are playing for their individual scores.  Maybe it’s because I play mostly on pubs because I don’t really feel like joining a clan.  Some of us actually want to win the game and it makes me want to jam rusty Phillips head screw drivers into my eyeballs when someone is only playing for themselves.

Just last weekend I was dead and in spec mode watching a demo-man standing next to the payload on Gold rush shooting out his little bombs at some sniper sitting up in the sniper nest, not killing him of course.  Mean while 2 scouts and a medic pushed the cart right past this retard to win the game.  All he had to do was turn around and bomb the cart so I could respawn and actually help out the team to WIN THE GAME.  That’s what it’s about isn’t it? Winning the game? You’d think it was, but apparently not.

Turbo Controllers Online

If you've been gaming as long as I have, you have to remember the turbo controller mainstays from the days of the NES. If you needed that extra bit of something in Mega Man, you flipped on the turbo and blasted little yellow pellets to your heart's delight. Gaming has obviously come a very long way since the 8 bit days and so have controllers. Gone are the 2 button, D-Pad control schemes, replaced by complex button presses and analog control sticks. Controllers vibrate, mimic movement and conform to the shape of your hand. One thing they don't do normally these days, is fire rapidly with one press (depending on the game and gun type).

Games don't cost enough.

Chris Deering (Google him. He's a douche that I don't care explaining.) says that in order for the video game industry to survive, the games themselves need to cost more. I say 'Bullshit.'

Gaming companies can mullygrub and complain all they want about not making enough money for their company to survive and piracy, but what about us, the consumers? We have to put UP with your crappy games that you hawk at us for 50-60 bucks apiece brand new!

Addiction = Smart Marketing?

I was browsing some sites (as I usually do on the interwebs along with the rest of the world) and I noticed a banner ad.  This ad was for an mmorpg, and they were marketing themselves as "The most addictive game ever."

An Open Letter To The Glitchers of XBL

Fuck you. Specifically the one I got into a shouting match with on Saturday night, fuck you.

You think you're cool because you know a map exploit in Call of Duty to get underneath the map and kill anybody who has the misfortune of playing? You're a cocksucker and deserve to be banned for life from Xbox Live.

You Should Have Been Dead 6 Bullets Ago

I'm sure you're all a bit perplexed by the title and I'll do my best to try to explain.

I play a lot of games online, mostly FPS and these days it's relatively limited to console action save for some TF2 action here and there on my PC. Like the majority of people out there I play the Call of Duty franchise on my 360 and a little Killzone 2 on the PS3. Just to be clear, this is directed at the CoD crowd. Now that the formalities are out of the way, let's get to the good stuff.
