Quakecon 2009 Real Update

E-mail Print PDF

Very sorry for the late update here, I have a good reason. First off, I would like to give out a hearty "Fuck You!" to DFI for making my life at work a living hell. Your motherboards are shit and you are shit. You are adopted and your parents don't love you. I've been working on this computer for days due to the poor support that their website was able to offer. But I digress. What you are really reading this for is to hear about Quakecon, not about how much DFI sucks cock (they suck a lot of it).

I arrived at the Gaylord Texan in Dallas last Wednesday for early check-in along with hundreds of other gamers eagerly awaiting the biggest LAN event in the nation. After waiting for about seven hours, I was able to set up my computer and get some sleep for the event tomorrow. The next day came, and there were people everywhere. The few of us that had come for early check-in were nothing compared to the amount of people waiting to get into the event on opening day and the more that were to come the following days. I went to my first press conference and more afterwards. What follows is the information gained from the conferences and the event in general.

Quakecon 2009

E-mail Print PDF

Quakecon 2009 is over and I had quite a time. It wasn't as interesting as past years, yet there are still important developments in the gaming world that need to be covered. After I get back to my apartment and get settled, I'll prepare a longer report on what all has happened and what we are to expect in the years to come. Both id and Bethesda were the major players this year, and news of the merger between the two companies was everywhere. The reasons behind Bethesda's acquisition of id was explained and the major projects for both teams were showcased. I'll go into more detail within the coming days, but I can say that it is an exciting time to be a gamer.

Wallpaper

E-mail Print PDF

We got e-mailed some pretty nice wallpaper from one of our members and figured we'd post them.
(thanks td0t)

Anyone that has any other sweet designs for a t-shirt or background or whatever just send them in (I'm in the process of coming up with a way for people to submit files to us through the site). You'll hear about that soon enough. If you're interested in making a background, make at least 1 at a standard resolution, and a thumbnail that is 325px wide and 260px high.

Thanks again.

E-mail Print PDF
Quakecon 2009Update: Grunge Gamer is going to QuakeCon! Thanks to the kindness of the people at Rogers & Cowen, I am allowed to go as press and cover QuakeCon on the website. This is a big deal for Grunge, especially considering the age of the site! I will try to post something every night that I am there to keep you guys up to date.

Next month one of the most highly anticipated gaming conventions in the world will be held at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas. QuakeCon 2009 is scheduled for August 13-16th and gamers from all corners of the globe plan to attend, including myself. According to the website, this year, the convention is sponsored by id Software and myinternetservices.com.

Grunge Same
First off, I would like to thank all the members of Grunge Gamer. Though you are few and this site is still in its infancy, without you we could not have dreams of a bigger and brighter future. Secondly, while this site is seeing amazing development since it's creation, there is much more to be done.

The next time you find yourself on the internet head on over the the forums and introduce yourself. We aim to be community oriented and that cannot happen without the help of members like you. You're not a number here; you are an individual.  Besides, if you don't help, you're a Communist. ;D
