APB Beta Invites Are Out

E-mail Print PDF

It feels like forever ago that I signed up, I've been watching all their podcasts and very much looking forward to their beta. Well I officially got my invite to the APB beta. Here is what it looks like for anyone that did not get one, or anyone that might have had it go into their spam folder.

Please note, you need to have administrator rights on your PC to successfully install the game. Please visit our known issues page and view a list of playtest times on our website (login required) to find out more.

Please click this link to start this process: http://apb.com

If you have any problems downloading and installing the game or would like to find out more about the game before you play for real, go to our website at: na.beta.apb.com and log into our beta tester private area using your account details. You'll find FAQs, play guides, troubleshooting assistance and discussion forums where you can talk to other players and the APB team. Plus we'll be posting regular news for our beta testers and providing unique wallpapers, videos, screenshots and artwork for you to view and download.

We look forward to meeting you in game!

— APB Team

I went through all the steps and am currently downloading the 7.99 gb install from the launcher, which isn't really a ton for an mmorpg install. One thing worth nothing is that I clicked the P2P button at the bottom (thinking I would torrent it up a little bit) and that reset the download the 0%, so that sucked (it was at 53%).

Here's a screen shot of the launcher and what not to click

To anyone that also got invited, I will hopefully see you in game. I will try to update with as much as I can about the game, what kind of issues I come across and just my general thoughts and opinions about APB as I play the beta as often as I have anything important to say. (Please keep in mind anything I say about the game good or bad, it's still in a beta stage). Ok, I gotta go, this download is killing my interwebs.

IANAL, but this isn't 3rd party/person, it's a 1st person account. He isn't distrubting his key or somehow making it availble to others. This was simply a post letting you know he got his key and to be careful with the P2P function of the download.

The big no-no in the NDA is taking the code and trying to use it for personal profit or instructing others in how to reverse engineer it.

Could you post a link to this magical NDA? I've been searching around and haven't been able to find a copy of it.

...
A) it doesnt matter whether its on their radar or not its still a breach of the NDA
B) lets just say it wasnt google that linked me here :)

we'll see
We'll see what happens, I'm not too worried. If grunge gamer is even a blip on their radar I would be a happy camper (whatever that means).

Re: RRRAAAGGGEEE!!!
@DeaconSeth Hah, nice RRRAAAGGGEEE. I think you get brownie points for writing on a gaming website when it comes to closed beta's. Thanks for the grats though.

RRRAAAGGGEEE!!!
>_< Been following this for so many years now (5!), and still have had the incredibly bad luck not to be selected. This has been probably the only game of 2010 I've had any interest in aside from Mass Effect 2.

I at least hope that RtW doesn't lock you out of discussing the game too much.. they've been so incredibly tight-lipped about this title outside of beta. Hope the experience is a pleasant one dude, congrats again.

LOL - thanks for the info - and sorry to hear that your progress was reset :(
Ya, last I saw, it was going to take 8 hours or so (500 mins) to download the 8 Gbyte updates.
